‘Tis the season and school’s almost out! June is coming quickly, which means kids are free to roam the city for two whole months. For most parents, though, work still needs to be done and groceries won't buy themselves! Getting some alone time, therefore, can be a struggle. Lucky for them, there are programs available to get your kids active, creative, interacting, and – most importantly – out of the house. At Laurus, campers get a well-rounded experience. Sports and art are foundational, with a new specialty sport each week. There are occasional guest speakers who come in to talk to campers about lifestyle and careers – the speakers include athletes, musicians, actors, and journalists. They also have a Leadership Enrichment Program through which the older campers can choose to take on additional responsibilities.

The West Island YMCA offers a number of different day camps for kids and pre-teens. The camps are based on the 3, 2, 1 approach! The 3, 2, 1 approach entails 3 swimming lessons per week, 2 structured physical activities per week, and 1 cultural or community activity. The structured physical activities include things such as team sports, dance, olympics, relays, zumba, etc. The community activity helps kids explore the city, including its different cultures and environmental initiatives.
