I know I'm not the only on in Montreal who feels pressure to always look my best. It's like everyone on St Catherine just walked out of a billboard ad. Montreal is a great city for fashion, with beautiful clothes on almost every corner. However dressing your best can come at a price. That's why I'm going to walk you through the advantages of trying the capsule wardrobe!
Basically the idea is to buy a small amount of expensive and well-made items, instead of cycling through heaps of cheap clothing. You buy, say, three full outfits, and mix and match throughout the week.
The idea is also to buy very basic, flattering clothes, so everything you own matches with everything else. That way you won't be wearing the same yellow floral-print jacket five days a week!
Stores like Aritzia, Zara, and Club Monaco are great places for a few simple, high quality items. I bought my small wardrobe last Winter, and I've been wearing the same pieces ever since! I buy layers that can be worn alone in the summer, and then piled up in the winter for warmth!
The best part is I'm never at a loss for what to wear! Give it a try and lose that early morning stress of picking through your overflowing closet!
