Brasserie Beaubien - 73 Beaubien St East
Brasserie Beaubien is a great place to play a show, host a DJ, or hold a magazine or book launch. They have a sound guy they can have available for you, or you can do that stuff yourself. There's a decent sized stage, and some tables for people who want to sit down. All you have to do is contact them via Facebook and you can talk dates and details.

La Vitrola - 4602 St Laurent Blvd
La Vitrola is another sweet venue. There is a charge, so make sure you work that into your budget. It's a pretty big space, and there's a "green room" area behind the stage where performers can hang out. La Vitrola is up two flights of stairs, so it's less accessible than Brasserie Beaubien.

The Fattal Lofts - 617 rue St Remi
The Fattal Lofts are a group of infamous punk loft buildings in St. Henri. There's no official contact to book a space there, but if you can get in touch with one of the residents, some of the lofts are super cool. The lofts behind the main building are "artist lofts," which are perfect for small shows.
