Metatron Press Catalogue Launches & Events

Various Locations

There's always something cool going on with local indie publisher Metatron. Founder Ashley Opheim has a knack for hosting events you won't want to miss out on. Whether it's a new catalogue launch or a reading by a handful of Metatron authors, you're bound to have a great time.

Kafein Poetry Night

Kafein Cafe-Bar, 1429 Rue Bishop

Kafein has poetry night every Tuesday night, all year round! They use a pay what you can system, and all proceeds go to the readers. Everyone from first-time readers to established authors are welcome to read! It's sort of like an open mic night. Get yourself a fancy cocktail and take in the poetry vibes.

Resonance is more scheduled than Kafein, and all readers are invited by the night's host, Klara du Plessis. She invites authors from all over to do longer readings, showcasing local and international talent. Klara has impeccable taste and every event has something different to offer. Check one out—they happen on the first Tuesday of every month!

BAD NUDES Magazine Quarterly Launches

Various Locations

BAD NUDES have moved out of their St. Henri loft location, but that doesn't mean they're slowing down. The magazine launches quarterly with a reading and party, and in between they hold smaller events—in November they had a Leonard Cohen tribute night. Watch out for launch info on their site.
